Meditation for a Restless Mind

If your mind wanders a hundred times, meditation is bringing it back a hundred times. That is not failure — that is the practice.

Meditation for a Restless Mind

A restless mind is not a broken mind. It is a mind that has been trained by a restless world. Meditation is the counter-training — small, repeated, patient.

Choose an anchor

The breath at the nostrils, the rise and fall of the belly, the ambient sound of the room, a mantra silently repeated. The anchor is not the goal; it is a place to return to.

Start with five minutes

Set a timer. When the mind wanders — and it will — notice it kindly and return to the anchor. That noticing is the meditation. Over weeks, five minutes becomes ten becomes twenty, without strain.

Do it before you feel like it

Motivation follows action. Sitting on the days you least want to sit is where the real transformation happens.
